Bihar Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling Area and Acquisition of Surplus Land) (Amendment) Act, 2009

AN ACT
TO AMEND THE BIHAR LAND REFORMS (FIXATION OF CEILING AREA AND ACQUISITION OF SURPLUS LAND) ACT, 1961,

BE it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Bihar in the sixtieth Year of Republic of India as follows:-

1. Short title, extent and commencement.— (1) This Act may be called the Bihar Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling Area and Acquisition of Surplus Land) (Amendment) Act, 2009.

(2) It shall extend to the whole of the State of Bihar.
(3) It shall come into force at once.

2. Amendment of section 27 (1) of Bihar Act, 12 of 1962 .— (1) In Section- 27 (1) after the words "provisions of this Act,' and before the word "acquired" the words "all lands" shall be replaced by the words " fifty (50) percent of the land".

(2) The following new Sub-Section shall be inserted after Section -27 (1) (vii) :-

" 27 (1 a) - The remaining fifty (50) percent of the land acquired or deemed to be acquired by the State Government under this Act shall, subject to Rules made under this behalf, be settled by the Collector with women belonging to categories mentioned in sub clause - (i), (ii), (iii), (iv) of Sub-Section- (1) of Section-27".
