Legal definition of Judicial proceeding

Judicial proceeding means a legal proceeding in the court to determine the rights of the parties (in civil cases) or determine the guilt of the accused (in criminal cases)

As per Criminal Procedure Code it includes any proceeding in the course of which evidence is or may be legally taken on oath;
