It is the most prestigious centre for legal education in India. Admission is on the basis of a National Entrance Test, which is held twice a year. The test aims at assessing linguistic ability, analytical skills, general knowledge, legal aptitude, legal reasoning and mathematical skills of applicants.

For Integrated 5 years programme the eligibility is 10+2 or equivalent with 50% aggregate marks. There are 80 seats of which 50% seats are reserved for students of Chhattisgarh state.
