1. Short title and extent. – (1) This Act may be called the Prisoners Act, 1900. (2) It extends to the whole of India except the territories, which immediately before the 1st November, 1956, were comprised in Part B States. (3) [Repealed] State Amendments
Andhra Pradesh In Sub-section (2) of Section 1, after the expression “except the territories which immediately before 1st November, 1956 were comprised in Part B States” the words “other than the territories specified in sub-section (1) of section 3 of the State Reorganization Act, 1956” shall be added. Maharashtra In sub-section (2) of Section 1, after the words “comprised in Part B States”, the words “other than the Hyderabad and Saurashtra areas of the State of Bombay” shall be added. In sub-section (2) of Section 1 after the words “Part B States” the words “other than the Madhya Bharat and Sironj regions of the State of Madhya Pradesh” shall be added. [Vide M.P. Act XXIII of 1958, Sec. 3.]
