24. Power of Boards, Courts, Labour courts and Tribunals. - In addition to the powers conferred by the Act, Boards, Courts, Labour Courts and Tribunals Shall have the same powers as are vested in a civil court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 when, trying a suit, in respect of the following matters, namely: - (a) discovery and inspection;
(b) granting adjournment; (c) reception of evidence taken on affidavit; and the Board, Court, Labour Court or Tribunal may summon and examine any person whose evidence appears to be material and shall be deemed to be a civil court within the meaning of Sections 480 and 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
