156. Duties of Gaon Panchayats.- Without prejudice to the generality of the provisions contained in sections 154 and 155, the functions and duties of Gaon Panchayat shall include— (a) The development and improvement of agriculture and horticulture, (b) The preservation, maintenance and development of forest and trees, (c) The Maintenance and development of abadi sites and village communications, (d) The management of hats, bazaar and melas, (e) The development of co-operative farming. (f) The development of animal husbandry, which includes pisciculture and poultry farming, and the development of piggery, (g) The consolidation of holdings, (h) The development of cottage industries; (i) The maintenance and development of fisheries, wells and tanks, and (j) Such other matters as may be prescribed. |
